The April Fair is being enjoyed this year with more enthusiasm than ever, but there is life beyond this festival throughout Andalusia.

We choose five to continue enjoying May.

THE COURTYARDS OF CORDOBA

It is one of the most important festivals in Córdoba.

For this reason, the patios of half the city are decorated with

petunias, poppies, bougainvillea and geraniums

to receive more than a million visitors.

After a virtual visit as a result of the pandemic in 2020 and a half-hearted celebration in 2021, the decoration of these

architectural jewels

regains all its splendor this year.

Until May 15 there is time to delve into them and soak up floral aromas of all kinds thanks to this

Festival of National Tourist Interest

and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

THE JEREZ HORSE FAIR

The days most awaited by Jerez residents (and by equestrian lovers in general) are here.

Anyone who wants can go until May 14 through the

177 stalls

set up this year in the

González Hontoria Park

, where the Andalusian city's Horse Fair takes place.

The parallel activities such as the

tests of harassment and demolition

, the cowboy dressage or the exhibition of couplings will not miss the appointment.

Likewise, the Horse Walk will once again be the protagonist these days, as well as the

parade of riders, Amazons and hooks

.

Just today, at 10 pm, the lighting of the fair will be celebrated, with 1,300,000 points of light.

THE ROCÍO PILGRIMAGE IN ALMONTE

The Virgen del Rocío returns to Almonte, in Huelva, this month after the pandemic in which it is considered

"the pilgrimage of reunion"

between brotherhoods and rocieros.

This has been expressed by the president of the

Brotherhood of Almonte,

Santiago Padilla.

For this reason, everything is already planned to enjoy the festival to the fullest, including the lighting of the route for the Queen's Procession (May 11), while that of the Ephemeral Cathedral in the

Plaza Virgen del Rocío

will take place on May 19 .

For its part, the Ninth preparatory for Pentecost will start on May 12, although the official inauguration of the pilgrimage will not arrive until June 3.

SAN ISIDRO IN JAEN

On

May 15, not

only is the festival of San Isidro Labrador celebrated in style in Madrid (he is the patron saint of the capital), but also in many cities in Spain such as Jaén.

In the Andalusian city, as well as in different towns in the province,

a full-fledged pilgrimage takes place,

accompanied in many cases by fireworks, decorated floats, parades,

ham and cheese

tastings, chamomile tastings and music.

THE NEIGHBORHOODS

OFFERING OF FLOWERS IN COTTON

The last of the proposals to enjoy spring in Andalusia takes us to Algodonales, in Cádiz.

There, on the last Saturday of the month, the offering of flowers to the so-called

Virgencita de la Sierra

takes place .

The peculiarity of this festival is that the offering is made

on horseback in front of the church of Santa Ana

.

The riders, in addition, are dressed in traditional costumes of the land, so the color and fun are more than guaranteed.

On Sunday the road takes place.
