A tourist boat carrying 26 people sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, and on the 9th, a private specialist dropped an unmanned submersible around the sunk ship to search for the missing person. I have decided.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed and 12 people are still missing in the accident where the sightseeing boat "KAZU 1 (19 tons)" carrying 26 passengers and crew sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.

At the sinking site, a private salvage company has been searching around the sunken ship at a depth of about 120 meters using an unmanned submersible since the 8th.

The images released on the night of the 8th did not reveal any noticeable damage to the hull, but did not find any new clues leading to the discovery of the missing person in the surrounding sea.

The search by the unmanned submersible continued after the 9th, and other work vessels will join in the future, and by the end of this month, the diver will dive to the bottom of the sea in a way that can cope with the deep sea called "saturation diving" and will be inside the ship. I will check if there are any people left behind.

In addition, the Japan Coast Guard Headquarters and the Self-Defense Forces will continue to search the sea from the Shiretoko Peninsula to the northern territory of Kunashir Island, and will hurry to find the missing person.
