[Explanation] Liu Hongjie, a Hong Kong-born "post-90s" who started a business in Qiong, said in an interview with reporters recently that he will play the role of a "bridge" connecting the mainland market and Hong Kong youth, give full play to his own advantages and resources, and help more Hong Kong youth in Hainan Realize your entrepreneurial dream.

  [Commentary] Liu Hongjie, originally from Wenchang, Hainan, grew up in Hong Kong. After completing his studies in Australia, he returned to Hong Kong to engage in the financial industry.

Because of the huge market potential of the mainland, Liu Hongjie returned to his hometown Hainan in 2016 with the entrepreneurial dream of "cross-border e-commerce" to cooperate with mainland friends to start a business.

  At that time, cross-border e-commerce was indeed (not many) in Hainan. What we know is that if most citizens want to buy some maternal and child products from Australia, they will do it through purchasing agents. It is legal for us to do cross-border e-commerce. Some merchants that have passed the customs clearance mode do not have it.

  [Explanation] In his view, Hong Kong's logistics and trade industry has accumulated more than half a century and is a local pillar industry.

However, doing logistics trade in Hong Kong has to face the challenges of high labor costs and high rents.

After Liu Hongjie's company settled in Haikou, the local government gave preferential rent of office space and subsidies for logistics. The "bonus" of these policies brought him motivation to start a business in Hainan.

  Whether starting a business or living, (among them) some conveniences (I) have also experienced a lot.

For example, in the early days of our business, when we entered the office in the park as a foreign capital, we could enjoy rent reduction and exemption, and there was a policy of about 30% off.

  [Explanation] Not long ago, Liu Hongjie was recognized as a high-level talent in Hainan and will enjoy more preferential policies in terms of work, life, and children's education.

Now, he is preparing for the postgraduate examination of Hainan University and continuing his studies.

  As the introduction of high-quality talents, we can also enjoy (some) support for purchasing houses, cars, and children's education in the future.

Including Hainan University, as far as I know, starting this year, the recruitment of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots will be carried out. I hope that I will have the opportunity to continue my studies in the future.

  [Explanation] Having experienced the development and changes in the mainland in recent years, Liu Hongjie sincerely sighed that not only life has become more convenient, but the business environment is also improving.

  The business environment (in the mainland) has really changed a lot. Taking the company we founded in 2016 as an example, it was difficult to register a company. Let’s not talk about whether the company will succeed in the future. I remember that the enterprise is a relatively cumbersome action.

But now we go to register a new company, whether it is a compatriot from Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan, or foreign investment, our whole process of registration can be done online.

  [Explanation] Today, Liu Hongjie also extends his business sector to the catering field.

He said that tourism is one of the three leading industries in Hainan, and Hainan is currently promoting the construction of an international tourism consumption center and should seize this business opportunity.

Liu Hongjie innovated the business model and continuously enriched and updated the cuisine, which was welcomed by consumers.

  [Explanation] The cross-border e-commerce physical store and restaurant operated by Liu Hongjie in Hainan have created more than 170 job opportunities for the local area.

  [Explanation] In recent years, the vigorous development of the Chinese mainland market has attracted the attention of many people from Hong Kong and overseas.

Liu Hongjie said that many friends from Hong Kong and Australia around him learned that Hainan is building a free trade port, and they have learned from him about the situation. They are also targeting development opportunities in the Chinese mainland market.

  It is very important to attract business through business. When we do well in the mainland, (friends from Hong Kong and overseas) will also wonder if there are really many opportunities there.   [Explanation] Hong Kong has always been the largest source of foreign investment in Hainan Province.

As of the end of 2020, Hainan Province had a total of 6,929 approved Hong Kong-invested enterprises, with a contractual direct investment of US$62.915 billion and an actual direct investment of US$10.455 billion, accounting for 70.76% of the province's total.

  [Explanation] In recent years, Hainan has issued the "Administrative Measures for Professionals from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to Practice in China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Hainan Free Trade Port" and "Several Opinions on Encouraging Talents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to Serve the Development of Hainan", etc., to encourage Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan professionals Talents work and start businesses in Qiong.
