A charity event was held to help women evacuating from Ukraine to Komae, Tokyo, and borscht supervised by women was served.
Doubash Maria (71) from Zaporizhia, a city in the southeastern part of Ukraine, evacuated in March, relying on her daughter who lives in Komae, Tokyo.
The city is supporting her life by lending an automatic translator to Maria, who does not speak Japanese, and on the 7th, she held a charity event to create a place for interaction with the citizens.
At the venue, 500 Ukrainian home-cooked "Borscht" cooked by restaurants in the city based on Maria's recipe were served, and many people lined up.
When Maria said "Thank you" in Japanese and handed over the borscht, the visitors said "Good luck" and received it.
At the venue, sunflower flowers, which symbolize Ukraine, were distributed, a donation box was set up, and the collected support money was to be donated to the Ukrainian embassy.
