Following the sinking accident of a sightseeing ship off the coast of Shiretoko, Hokkaido, a briefing session was held in Shari Town on the 7th about compensation for passengers' families by the operating company.

The briefing session began around 1:00 pm on the 7th at the Utoro branch of the Shari Town Hall, and according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, 25 passengers' families were briefed locally.

At the briefing session, two lawyers from the Shiretoko Tour Boat explained about the cost of staying at the site, funeral expenses, and general compensation such as personal compensation for about an hour, and then responded to individual consultations for each family member.

In addition, President Seiichi Katsura also attended the briefing session for about an hour at the beginning.

When entering and exiting the venue, President Katsura did not respond to questions from the press.

The briefing session was held privately, and after the meeting, Deputy Minister Takeyuki Watanabe of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said, "President Katsura and the lawyer said,'I'm sorry, thank you for coming to the briefing session.'" I told President Katsura and the lawyer, "Since the family's hard work has reached its peak, I will carefully explain and respond so that the story of compensation does not lead to new family's hard work. I want you to do it. "
