Last month, shortly before the start of the month of Ramadan, Republican People's Party (CHP) President Kemal Kilicdaroglu, in cooperation with Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and the city's governor, Janan Kaftancioglu, held a panel discussion entitled "Muhammad Hamdi Yazer Ilmalili" in Istanbul.

This occasion was interesting given that the Republican People's Party is known for its distance from religion and the application of the most strict secular policies throughout the history of the Turkish Republic, which included banning the call to prayer and preventing the reading and teaching of the Qur'an in Arabic, and it did what it did in the name of secularism, and then held a panel discussion under the name of the most famous scholar Explanation!

To find out the reason for choosing the Elmaleli in particular, we find that in his works what is appropriate and beneficial to them in relation to the party’s policies. The Elmaleli book entitled “The Religion of Truth is the Language of the Qur’an” is an interpretation that accompanies the decision of the Turkish Parliament in the early years of the Republic, which requires reading the Qur’an and delivering speeches exclusively in Turkish. This means that it is not only an interpretation of the Qur'an, but it is also a living witness to an exemplary history of religion and secularism in that period.

A lot of facts are changing in Turkey, and everyone is already accustomed to that, but what was not expected is that the orientations of the CHP will change to this extent, and it is possible that the presidential system is one of the reasons that explain this change, given that the CHP will not He can come to power without obtaining 50% of the vote, and since he will not be able to reach power with his strict classical secular policies, his leaders must realize that they should show more flexibility in dealing with religious circles.

The Happiness Party - founded by Erbakan - and the Future Party - founded by Ahmet Davutoglu, who split from the Justice and Development Party - and the Diffa Party - founded by Ali Babacan and who also split from the Justice and Development Party - are now in an alliance with the Republican People's Party, and in this case it requires That the rhetoric of the People's Party be flexible enough to attract voters from the conservative side.

This panel discussion can be understood as a reference to the CHP's break with strict secular policies, but Hamdi Yazer, who was chosen to deliver this message, is a well-known interpreter in Turkey.

For those who do not know Muhammad Hamdi Yazir Al-Ilamali, he is the most famous Turkish Muslim scholar. He was famous for his theology, logic, interpretation, translation of the Qur’an, jurisprudence and philosophy. He had some political activities and sided with the Union and Progress Party and signed a fatwa authorizing the ouster of Sultan Abdul Hamid in a jurisprudential error. He wrote this fatwa at the request of the Union and Progress Party. Union and Progress, he headed the Islamic House of Wisdom in 1918, then became Minister of Endowments and then a deputy in Parliament, after which he entered private seclusion in which he studied for 20 years until he died in May 1942.

In order to find out the reason for choosing the Elmaleli in particular, we find that in his works what is appropriate and beneficial to them in relation to the party’s policies. The book of the Elmaleli entitled “The Religion of Truth is the Language of the Qur’an” is an interpretation that accompanies the decision of the Turkish Parliament in the early years of the Republic, which requires reading the Qur’an and delivering speeches exclusively in Turkish. This means that it is not only an interpretation of the Qur'an, but it is also a living witness to an exemplary history of religion and secularism in that period.

Of course, if they start reading this book, we should not discourage them, rather we must pray for them so that they continue reading and so that they can understand it and see its intellectual depth, and let them have a share of its blessing, but first what do you think of taking a closer look at the real story behind the interpretation project? Who did the Ilmalili work on?

The real story behind this project is the implementation of a "religious policy" that will turn people away from their religion by making religious worship and sources in Turkish language, but the most interesting aspect of this story is the radical difference between what was expected and the outcome.

An official justification was issued for performing worship in the Turkish language, according to which the sons of the Turkish nation should pray in the language they understand and read religious books in their mother tongue. In the nation and they succeeded in this, the Turks’ reading of the Noble Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet in the Turkish language will make them believe that their religion is based on nonsense and fabricated superstitions, and thus they will move away from religion little by little in order to raise secular and positive generations of all ages.

These policies have resulted in an illusion of enlightenment that has no doubt that all Islamic sources or other religions are based on myths and superstitions. This project is an attempt to legitimize the secular policies of those who still believe in this religion. Islamists cannot object to it.

In fact, when this policy progresses in concrete steps with 4 large projects, it will be understandable that no one objected to these justifications, especially among those who accepted jobs in one of these projects, and if the speeches were delivered in Turkish, Mehmet Akif Ersoy would have accepted the offer to translate the Qur’an, and Muhammad Hamdi Yazar Al-Ilamali with the interpretation of the Qur’an, and Babanzadeh Ahmed Naim with the translation and interpretation of Sahih Al-Bukhari.
