Dong Liang, 41, is a native of Qingxian County, Hebei Province. He is also the ninth-generation inheritor of Cangzhou's intangible cultural heritage "Beijing Comb Making Skills".

According to Dong Liang, a small mahogany comb seems simple, but it requires more than 200 processes from material selection to finished product, of which more than 100 processes are done by hand.

Dong Liang is good at seeking design inspiration from traditional Chinese culture. On the basis of inheritance from generation to generation, he combined traditional lacquer art, luodian, inlay and filigree techniques to make a unique Beijing comb.

In 2019, the "Mother En" wooden comb designed by Dong Liang's team won the championship at Beijing International Design Week and was invited to design a comb for the Palace Museum.

In order to make a wooden massage comb, Dong Liang studied a lot of books and literature, and even went to Beijing to ask a professor from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dong Liang said that in the future, he hopes to make the combs more exquisite, so that the mahogany culture can enter the homes of more ordinary people.
