The man who is said to have shot an employee at a gas station in Idar-Oberstein last year was very drunk at the time of the crime.

The 50-year-old had between 1.73 and 1.93 per thousand alcohol, said a forensic doctor on Friday at the murder trial in the Bad Kreuznach district court.

The information that he drank a total of 5.5 liters of beer from the late afternoon on the day of the crime is plausible.

The German is charged with murder and illegal possession of weapons.

He has already confessed to killing the 20-year-old gas station employee after he had repeatedly pointed out the corona-related mask requirement.

The reason given by the accused was that he felt provoked by the employee.

According to the prosecution and his own statements to the court, the man drove home after a first visit to the gas station, got a loaded revolver and then returned to the gas station.
