In France, the Covid is moving away from minds.

The epidemic is in sharp decline with 7,925 cases recorded on Wednesday May 4 against 67,771 last Wednesday.

In China, it's a different matter.

The country is experiencing an epidemic rebound which is forcing the government to take strict isolation measures.

Europe 1 takes stock.

In France, this is the first time since the Omicron variant has become the majority that there are less than 50,000 new cases per day.

A drop of 30% in one week has been observed.

At the hospital, the critical care services are emptying: there are less than 1,500 hospitalized patients, a first since March.

New daily admissions to these wards fell 27% in seven days.

This decline is rapid and seems to be sustainable since it has been going on for several days.

200,000 people infected with Omicron in China

If with us the Covid is slowly moving away, China is experiencing an epidemic rebound which is pushing the country to confine and take very strict isolation measures.

The country has been betting on the “zero Covid” policy for two years.

Officially 200,000 people have been infected.

But with the arrival of the highly contagious Omicron variant, and the few immune citizens, the virus is spreading much faster.

Moreover, China uses only the two Chinese vaccines.

Vaccines with low efficacy.

According to an article in the scientific journal The Lancet, the Sinovac vaccine is 51% effective against an infection.

Finally, it should be added that only 20% of Chinese over 80 received a booster dose, compared to 75% of French people in the same age group.
