"Brittany is not just a story of pancakes and festnoz"

"The history of Brittany is not taught absolutely anywhere. And yet it is fascinating", estimates at the microphone of Europe 1 Frédéric Brunnquell, the director of this documentary.

"It helps to better understand this region and who the Bretons are. Brittany is not just a story of pancakes and festnoz. Its history is full of twists and turns, struggles, poverty, rediscovered pride. We understand better why Brittany is a land of solidarity and living together, why it rejects extremes more than others.

To tell this story, it took Frédéric Brunnquell a year and a half of work, in particular looking for archives, many of which are unpublished.

And some colorized.

"When we look at the black and white images of Brittany, we have the impression that the people are sad Mormons dressed in black and gray", regrets Frédéric Brunnquell.

"During research, we realized that the costumes were flamboyant with colors and embroidery. These poor people put all their money and their know-how into these costumes. We were amazed by this colorization."
