(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) "Post-95" anti-epidemic guys turned into "pet sitters": taking care of them is also healing themselves

China News Service, Changchun, May 3 (Gao Longan) When Wang Haifu in protective clothing approached the puppy "Pippi" again, it no longer had the previous hostility, but instead showed expectant eyes, watching him fill the food bowl.

Wang Haifu, who was born in 1999, is a selected student from the Urban Construction Management Section of Qiancheng Street, Changchun Automobile Development Zone.

In the current round of Changchun epidemic, he was responsible for the disinfecting of the community as an anti-epidemic officer, and later became a "part-time nanny" for seven "hairy children".

In late March, confirmed cases and close contacts appeared in a community.

Among them, several quarantined residents are worried about pets at home alone.

Wang Haifu has been fond of small animals since he was a child, and has experience in raising cats. Simple feeding and cleaning are not difficult for him.

For pet owners, "hairy children" are family members and spiritual comforters in life.

"Every time I communicate with pet owners via video, where is the pet food, how much to add at a time, and finally clean up the feces." Wang Haifu said.

However, most "hairy children" are not close to strangers.

"'Pippi' was very resistant to us the first time he saw us. He jumped up and down. We were afraid that it would run out of the door." "Pippi" is a teddy dog. He is naturally timid and active. Put on a collar with the words "Vicious Dogs Are Fierce".

Some pets become restless when they leave their owners.

Wang Haifu said, "Pippi" is not fierce in nature, and it's better to move lightly when approaching.

After a few feedings, it is much more obedient. After a full meal, it will lie on the ground and reveal its belly to people, which is a manifestation of the pet letting go of its hostility.

The "hairy children" seem to understand that strangers in white clothes are the most trustworthy and dependable when their master is not around.

Over time, some pets face the problem of "running out of food", and the kitten "Gulu" has encountered this situation.

At that time, there was no open pet store near the community, and it was inconvenient to borrow cat food from others. Wang Haifu saved some of his box lunch for "Gulu" to eat.

When he sees chicken, he will serve it out separately, and after deboning it, it will serve as a nutritious meal for "Gulu".

Wang Haifu said that his daily killing work is very tiring. He has to climb more than a dozen buildings and walk more than 20,000 steps.

But seeing the healthy and lively appearance of these "hairy children", I was also spiritually healed.

Not long ago, the community announced the unblocking, and the owners of the "hairy children" went home one after another after finishing their isolation. Wang Haifu also stepped down from the role of "pet sitter", but he had all kinds of reluctance in his heart.

In his spare time, he would look through the pictures and videos he had taken before, recalling the names and preferences of each "hairy child".

Sometimes, he will also receive thank-you messages and photos from pet owners. Maybe these "hairy children" will miss him too.
