For the first time since September, the health authorities in Germany have not reported a single new corona death to the Robert Koch Institute within 24 hours.

This emerges from figures from Monday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m.

Subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.

The last time that not a single corona death was reported within one day was on September 21, 2020.

Health authorities usually report far fewer deaths on weekends than on other days.

The data will be submitted later.

It's about people who died of or with Corona.

The nationwide seven-day incidence in the meantime has continued to fall.

The Robert Koch Institute gave the value on Monday morning as 639.5.

On Sunday the incidence was 664.4, compared to 790.8 a week ago.

The value quantifies the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of seven days.

As the RKI further announced on Monday, citing data from the health authorities, the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 4032, after 11,718 the day before and 20,084 a week ago.

The total number of recorded cases of infection in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has increased to 24,813,817.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the development of the infection, also because the official reporting data depends on the testing behavior of the population.

The RKI therefore analyzes other parameters regularly – but not on a daily basis.

In their weekly report published on Thursday, the experts assumed, among other things, that the key figures for hospital admissions had continued to decrease.

The number of corona cases is usually lower on weekends and Mondays than the weekly average because fewer tests are carried out on weekends and fewer test results are transmitted.
