In Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines), around fifteen associations took turns to collect, prepare and also distribute meals to more than 700 people in need.

Their action took place during Ramadan, which began on April 1 and ended on Sunday evening.

Professionals and individuals in solidarity

The objective was to ensure a meal every day for the poorest, explains

.

170 volunteers gave their time to reach it.

A total of 21,000 food parcels were prepared for Muslim and non-Muslim beneficiaries.

The operation also owes its success to the butchers, wholesalers, bakers and supermarkets in the region who supplied the majority of the ingredients.

More than 2.7 tonnes of meat, 21,000 eggs and 10,000 baguettes were collected.

Some restaurateurs lent equipment while plumbers and electricians worked for free.

For the organizer, the operation highlighted solidarity but also the growing poverty in the surrounding area.
