On April 30, local time, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the cherry tree planting activity was held in the Presidential Park of Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.

  Hairat Sarebay, Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, pointed out that at the important moment of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the CICA, the CICA will continue to work to strengthen cooperation, increase trust, jointly achieve the goal of promoting peace in Asia, and leave a legacy for future generations. He said that the planting activities will green the urban construction and raise public awareness of dealing with climate change and protecting the environment.

  This event is co-hosted by the CICA Secretariat and the Global Foundation for Sustainable Development.

Alia Shalabekova, Deputy Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, diplomatic corps of CICA member states and observer states and volunteers for ecological civilization in the capital participated in the event.

  The CICA was created in 1992 with the purpose of creating conditions for ensuring dialogue and the implementation of confidence-based measures in the security field in Asia.

At present, it has 27 member states, 9 observer states, 5 observer organizations and 5 partner organizations.

Since 2014, the CICA Secretariat has been located in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.

In October this year, the 6th CICA Member State Leaders Summit will be held in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
