For thirty-five years, French viewers have been entitled to at least one rebroadcast of

Dirty Dancing

per year.

Soon, television channels will be able to put something new in their mouths since the sequel to the cult film should see the light of day.

During a conference held at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Lionsgate announced the project in a nutshell.

"Jennifer Gray returns to the Kellerman pension in an upcoming chapter," a voiceover said during the studio's presentation.

Remember.

“It was high summer in 1963. Everyone at that time called me Baby and that amused me.

It was before the assassination of President Kennedy, before the advent of the Beatles.

[…] We were going to spend the holidays at the Kellerman pension, ”declaimed the actress at the very beginning of the film released in 1987.

For the time being, we have no information on this “next chapter” which will see Jennifer Gray resume her mythical role.

His partner, Patrick Swayze, died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 57 in 2009. Two years ago, we learned that a sequel was in preparation.

“It will be exactly the kind of romantic and nostalgic film that fans of the franchise have been waiting for,” explained Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate.

A movie that inspires a lot

Projects have been springing up for several years with the aim of bringing the magic of

Dirty Dancing

back to life .

The year following the release of the film in cinemas, the American channel tried to launch a series of the same name, with Patrick Cassidy and Melora Hardin in the two main roles.

Only ten episodes were aired.

In 2004,

Dirty Dancing

returned to the big screen with a prequel in which Patrick Swayze played a dance teacher.

This is not enough to limit the breakage of this film which pleases neither the critics nor the public.

In 2017, ABC offers a remake of the feature film through a TV movie that TF1 even broadcasts in

prime time

at the end of the year.

The broadcast does not attract crowds: less than three million people tune in to these new adventures.
