Eight children between the ages of 12 and 15 were killed, Saturday, after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned from agricultural fields, in a canal in the Nile Delta in northern Egypt, a local official told AFP.

An official residing in the Itai al-Baroud area in the Buhaira governorate, where the accident occurred, said that the eight boys, according to the local press, "were going to harvest potatoes every evening."

The official said that the victims of this accident, which occurred at dawn on Saturday, were completing their studies, but they were working at night to help their parents.

The official of the workers who was transporting them survived the accident and was arrested for questioning, according to the same source.
