Demands to imprison the “cat killer” in Morocco

A video clip documenting the killing of a cat by a dog at the instigation of its owner has sparked a wave of resentment in Morocco on social media, with calls for the girl to be imprisoned.

The video shows a young woman inciting a dog to attack a kitten, which led to her death, according to local media, noting that the incident occurred in the city of Fez (north), and that the girl broadcast the tape on social media.

After that, the hashtag “prison for the cat killer” spread on Twitter and Facebook during the past two days, and many bloggers expressed their condemnation of the “torture and killing of cats,” in addition to the fact that this was filmed and pictures broadcast.

One blogger wrote that “words cannot describe” the scene, while another called to expose the ruthless girl. “If the cat is speechless, let us speak for her!”

Bloggers called on the authorities to intervene to open an investigation and jail the "cat killer".

The local "Madar21" website said that citizens of Fez "submitted complaints against the young woman who attacked the cat with the king's attorney."

Previously, photos or videos of similar incidents sparked widespread resentment in Morocco over the past years.

The Moroccan Penal Code punishes with imprisonment between two and six months anyone who “unnecessarily kills or amputates (...) any of the domesticated animals.”
