The High Authority for Communication (HAC) in Bamako, transmitted the information to us on the evening of Wednesday April 27, while a first suspension of our antennas had taken place on March 17.

According to the HAC, several recent broadcasts have violated the ethics and deontology of journalism.

RFI and France 24 are accused of biased coverage of Malian news.

The

Malijet

site  publishes the press release from the High Authority for Communication, of which the following is an extract

:

The incriminated programs devoted to Mali reveal the non-respect by France Médias Monde of the principles that it itself advocates in the Charter of Ethics for its journalists

...” Also in this press release from the HAC, according to this charter

,

“

the journalist considers critical thinking, truthfulness, accuracy, integrity, fairness and impartiality to be pillars of journalistic action and must refrain from any lie, approximation, prejudice or manipulation.

»

The facts alleged by the HAC

“

The accusations by the Malian authorities came after these media relayed reports that Malian military forces had committed atrocities against civilians in the north of the country.

This

is what

Today in Faso

writes .

“

Information relayed without concrete evidence and which aroused the anger of Bamako.

»

Moreover, for the High Authority for Communication, our two media rely on supposed clues to establish a supposed presence of elements of the Wagner group alongside Malian soldiers.

For Today in Faso, “

it is clear that France 24 and RFI will have to wait a long time for the resumption of their broadcasting in Mali.

»

“

France Médias Monde, our parent company, is strongly contesting an “unfounded and arbitrary decision”.

In

a

press release published on the RFI and France 24 sites, she announced that she was "

taking action for defamation in France and Mali

" after the Malian government compared the alleged actions of RFI and France 24 to the practices of Milles Collines radio during the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda.

FMM will continue its mission to inform

France Médias Monde ensures that it will continue to deal with current events in Mali.

News that interests "Africa as a whole like the rest of the world..." FMM recalls the independence and professionalism of its journalists.

WakatSera

believes that "

the ax of the military has fallen on the two media and that Colonel Assimi Goïta

is "

afraid of the pen, the microphone and the camera.

»

And the Burkinabè information site wonders: “

Perhaps this cut is only the beginning of a cleaning in sight on a larger scale, in the great house of the Malian press.

»

This decision, according to WakatSera, "

constitutes the infallible weapon used by predators of the right to information, and it gives food for thought to the various observers and organizations for the defense of human rights, the latter issuing alerts on the intentions of the Malian putschists to silence any voice contrary to their actions.

WakatSera who judges that “

the Malian transition power has used what it knows how to handle the most: force.

»

Another subject in the press, Guinea asks ECOWAS for an extension

According to

Ledjely

, “

Despite certain statements of mistrust on the part of the government spokesperson in particular, Guinea is more in line with the logic of negotiating with ECOWAS to avoid sanctions.

»

Guinea first presented recent developments regarding the transition process.

She then wished to have more time to allow consultations to continue.

In a response note issued yesterday, “

the Heads of State of the West African community have decided to send a mission to Conakry to produce a report.

This is what

Aminata

writes .

Burkina Faso having taken the same step, ECOWAS promises to send missions to each country to prepare a report for the next summit of leaders in the sub-region.
