The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare found that by the end of last month, at least 555 people had died at home after being infected with the sixth wave of the new coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare investigated people who died at home during the three months from January to the end of last month when the sixth wave of infection spread, using a system that aggregates information on people infected with the new coronavirus from local governments. ..

By the 27th, reports were received from 45 prefectures, and a total of 555 infected people died at home.

By age group, 55% were in their 80s or older, followed by 24% in their 70s and 10% in their 60s.

64% had an underlying illness.

The vaccination history is 39% for those who have been vaccinated twice, 38% for unknowns, and 16% for those who have not been vaccinated.

In addition to those who rapidly became severely ill during medical treatment at home and died shortly after being subject to hospitalization adjustment, there were also those who thought that they had the symptoms of the new corona and did not go to a medical institution.

Approximately 43% of those diagnosed shortly before their death were mild or asymptomatic, suggesting that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare often died from factors other than the new corona.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare says, "Based on the results of this survey, we would like to secure a system that ensures that home care recipients can receive medical care."
