Queen Elizabeth II appeared in great shape on Thursday, smiling broadly and posing without a cane, as she received the Swiss president at Windsor Castle.

Something to reassure about his state of health as the festivities planned for June for the 70th anniversary of his reign approach.

The monarch, who celebrated her 96th birthday last week in private, posed for photographers with Swiss President Ignazi Cassis and his wife at Windsor Castle, located about 40 kilometers from London, where she retreated since the pandemic.

Dressed in a blue and gray silk dress with floral patterns, she did not have the cane she has appeared with on several occasions in recent weeks.

Increasingly rare appearances

Four days of highly anticipated celebrations are planned for early June to mark its "platinum jubilee".

She herself had confided in mid-February that she "could not move", showing her left leg during a hearing in Windsor.

Since a brief hospitalization in October, Elizabeth II's appearances have become extremely rare, even if she continues to take on "light duties", most of the time by videoconference.

On March 29, she attended a religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey in honor of her husband Prince Philip, who died last year.

It was his first major public appearance in months.

According to Buckingham Palace, the sovereign hopes to be able to attend the opening ceremony of the British Parliament on May 10, an annual meeting that she has only missed twice in her 70-year reign.
