The Sharjah World Book Capital Office and the Wroclaw Literature Foundation, the organizer of the “Wroclaw City of Literature” project, affiliated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), launched the Ukraine Literary Support Fund, to provide financial support to writers, translators and workers in the publishing sector who lost their jobs in Ukraine.

The launch of the fund came in response to the situation in Ukraine, as the "Wroclaw Literature Foundation" invited the cities of literature and world capitals for writers, and received an immediate response and support from the "Sharjah World Book Capital Office", according to which the fund was established.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association and Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Sharjah World Book Capital Office for 2019, expressed her happiness at establishing the fund dedicated to supporting Ukrainian writers affected by the situation in Ukraine, stressing the need for the written word to overcome the challenges of difficult and harsh conditions, and the need for writers To build bridges of communication and dialogue, reduce differences and achieve security.

She stressed her firm belief that the world of literature opens a gateway to peace, noting that the humanitarian duty calls on the world to unite efforts to support this noble initiative.
