The poster for the new edition of the Festival d'Avignon (Vaucluse) is the subject of debate.

Some consider it "vulgar" or "promoting pedophilia".

A resident of Pontet even launched a petition to demand its withdrawal.

In question ?

The naked women who are represented above, behind three keys symbolizing those of the city, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré this Wednesday.

This poster is the work of an Afghan feminist artist, Kubra Khadeni.

A strong symbol

Questioned by our colleagues, the director of the Festival, Olivier Py, recalled that each year the posters were "subject to many interpretations".

For him, there is no question of seeing girls on this poster: it is indeed a representation of Kubra Khadeni in person.

A strong symbol for since the poster would have been created "the day after the Taliban banned school for girls", in Afghanistan, explains Olivier Py.
