The president of the Foment del Treball,

Josep Sánchez-Llibre,

has expressed the concern of the Catalan industry about the possible consequences of the energy transformation process undertaken by the Government and, in this sense, has asked the president

, Pedro Sánchez,

to review the closure of the nuclear power plants, scheduled for 2027 to 2035. "A review of the strategy is essential, we want to re-industrialize, not de-industrialize", he stated at the sixth edition of the Industrial Meeting Point of Foment del Treball, with the presence of the Company Secretary and Competitiveness of the Government of the Catalan Generalitat,

Albert Castellanos

, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry,

Raül Blanco.

For Sánchez-Llibre, governments must assume that the energy transition must be carried out "guaranteeing competitiveness, avoiding relocation and maintaining employment", as well as having as a final objective that the industrial sector can represent 25% in 2030 of Spain's GDP, when it is now at 19% and had reached 30%.

"We cannot get rid of 55% of the weight of industrial energy consumption, such as nuclear energy, which is not polluting," she warned.

This is the second argument in favor of atomic energy in just two days, since the president of the Popular Party,

Alberto Núñez Feijóo,

also includes the extension of the life of the plants in his reform program sent to the Government.

Likewise, the President of Foment has urged the Government of the Generalitat, chaired by Pere Aragonès, to accelerate the rate of implementation of renewable energies in the territory, paralyzed by the discrepancies between the independence parties, and to revoke the current double taxation of C02.

"We cannot set new taxes on energy such as the double taxation of CO2 for chemical industries, since the energy transition must be linked to a competitive tax ecosystem."

In this sense, the president of the Catalan employers' association has once again asked the Generalitat to eliminate the Wealth Tax and to harmonize the succession and donation tax downwards.
