Johnny Depp in court: "I am a victim of domestic violence"

Johnny Depp concluded his testimony during his US defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard by saying that he was a victim of domestic violence.

The actor was presenting his evidence in person in court in Fairfax County, Virginia, during which he was asked about his outbursts of anger and allegations that he physically assaulted his ex-partner, according to the British news agency (PA Media).

Depp is suing Amber Heard for defamation over a 2018 Washington Post article that his lawyers say falsely suggests he physically and sexually assaulted her.

Depp denied all the allegations and said he was "ashamed" of evidence presented to the court, which included a video of him smashing things in a kitchen and abusive text messages he sent to his friend, actor Paul Bettany.

Heard is also expected to appear at the trial, which is expected to last a total of seven weeks.
