They have spent months, some years, fighting alongside the armed ADF group, the Allied Democratic Forces, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
In Uganda, nearly 2,500 former combatants of the region's deadliest group have returned to their home countries to benefit from an amnesty set up by the government since 2000, hoping to see the insurgents lay down the weapons.
