About 100 carp streamers were fried on the 25th in the Shizukuishi River, which flows through Shizukuishi Town, Iwate Prefecture.

In Shizukuishi Town, carp streamers are fried on both banks of the Shizukuishi River every year before the Dragon Boat Festival in May, hoping for the healthy growth of children.

On the 25th, about 50 people, including locals and children from Omyojin Elementary School, gathered on the banks of the Shizukuishi River.

Locals attached about 100 colorful carp streamers, 2 to 6 meters long, donated by the townspeople to 150 meters long wires on both banks of the river.

The children cheered as the carp streamers began to swim vigorously in the warm spring breeze.

A second grader at Omyojin Elementary School said, "The colors were very beautiful. I was surprised when the wind blew."

This carp streamer can be seen at Shizukuishi River Garden near JR Shizukuishi Station until the 5th of next month.
