In the Kumano River in Wakayama Prefecture, which is registered as a World Heritage Site as a "river pilgrimage route," the "river boat descent" that goes down the river on a boat is gaining popularity from tourists.

The Kumano River, which flows through the border between Wakayama and Mie Prefecture, is called the "River Visiting Road" because the aristocrats went down the river by boat during the Heian period to visit Kumano, and it is registered as a World Heritage Site.

"Riverboat descent" is a popular sightseeing tour that you can enjoy by reproducing the situation at that time. On the 23rd, 9 people from outside the prefecture participated and went down the river in 2 boats.

Participants enjoyed a boat trip of about an hour and a half, listening to the storyteller's guidance, watching the magnificent nature along the Kumano River, and taking pictures.

A man from Kanagawa Prefecture said, "I'm glad I was able to go down the approach to this river at the end of walking the Kumano Kodo for two days. The view from the river surface was very beautiful."

The riverboat descent continues until the end of November.
