Dublin Airport receives 12,000 complaints in one year from the same person!

When it comes to complaining, you can sometimes feel as if you are screaming into the void.

Will the issue you reported lead to any meaningful change, and has anyone read it?

A Dublin resident can certainly say he made his point after making 90 per cent of all noise complaints about takeoffs and landings at Dublin Airport last year.

The complainant, who lives in Dublin's Ungard, filed 12,272 complaints with the airport last year, according to the Irish Independent.

The average volume of complaints was 34 per day.

The same person had previously submitted 6,227 complaints in 2020, but this almost doubled in 2021. This is despite the fact that there was only a 10 percent increase in aircraft movements at the airport as the sector continues to be affected by the epidemic.

Before 2019, the airport received about 1,500 noise complaints annually, but last year it was 13,569 complaints.

The aviation authority declined to comment on the number of complaints, but told the newspaper that the airport was committed to working with the communities surrounding the airport on issues such as aircraft noise.

The authority said it responds to every complaint, adding that it has introduced an online system called Webtrak for people to get more information about flight routes and noise levels.

This system also allows members of the public to file complaints about noise.
