Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilee promises to be a big celebration.

The ITV channel, which covers the event, is hosting a major show to accompany this historic moment, and has already announced some of the big names who will be on the air.

Helen Mirren and Damian Lewis will be the stars of a major play which will retrace some of the key moments in the history of the monarchy, from the reign of her ancestor, Elizabeth I, to her coronation.

, 1,300 extras will be mobilized, as well as 500 horses… and a Tom Cruise!

It is unknown what the American actor is doing in this adventure to the glory of British royalty, but since part of America has long been a colony of the United Kingdom, it is possible that he will play the role of one of the great figures of American independence.

Helen Mirren, meanwhile, will take over the role of the queen, which she had already taken on in 2005 for a TV series.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

, since this is the name of this television and theatrical event which will honor the longevity of Elizabeth II (70 years on the throne), will be broadcast live from Windsor Castle on May 15.

Music will be performed by a 75-artist orchestra, plus members of the National Symphony Orchestra, and special performances by Keala Settle, Gregory Porter and Katherine Jenkins.
