"Balcony Girl" reveals the details of an incident that occupied public opinion in Egypt

The 12-year-old Egyptian girl, whose media story was known as "The Balcony Girl", revealed the details of what happened after the spread of a horrific video that shook the feelings of the Egyptians during the past two days, in which a man appeared "trying to throw his daughter from the balcony of the house," explaining that she was the one who tried Jumping from the balcony because of her fear of her father who wanted to hit her, but the father caught her and called the neighbors to save her.

The girl, Guy, said, in statements reported by local media, that "her father tried to discipline her for being late in preparing breakfast, so he grabbed a hose and tried to hit and punish her, but she ran away from it and headed to the balcony," adding that she "felt terrified of her father, so she tried to jump from the balcony, but he managed to catch." And he sought help from the neighbors to help him save her so that she would not lose her balance and fall to the ground.”

The girl's mother stated that the security forces released her for not being involved in the incident, and also released her daughter, while the father was detained to investigate his criminal case, stressing that her husband was actually trying to hit Mai, but she ran away from him, and stressed that he did not mean to throw her from the balcony.

The circulating video caused a sensation, prompting the authorities to open an investigation, and the 44-second clip showed a man holding a girl by her hands while she was hanging from a balcony, before two other men intervened to lure her and rescue her.
