According to the Associated Press, on April 20, local time, the U.S. Capitol Police conducted an emergency evacuation of the Capitol.

Police said a plane was being tracked that could pose a threat to the security of the Capitol.

Police said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.

It was later confirmed that the plane police were tracking was a military aircraft.

The single-engine plane circled near Washington after taking off from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, two people familiar with the matter said.

The plane did not report to take off and was not cleared to fly, the people said.

The report also said that the plane was carrying members of the U.S. Army Golden Knights, who then parachuted into the Washington Nationals baseball stadium for a pregame demonstration, which is only about a mile (about 1.6 kilometers) from the Capitol.
