Andrés Calamaro defends bullfighting in Mexico City
He comes from
Mexico
to boast without complexes of his passion for Bullfighting.
There, at each of the stops through which he has dazzled with his new
tour
,
Andrés Calamaro
has sung his 'yes to the bulls' before thousands of people.
This Thursday, in a more solemn, shorter and less crowded act, the Argentine musician has taken another step so that his name is recognized by fans as one of the most important international artists who stand up for the bullfighting.
For nothing.
His new contribution: the design of the poster for Paco Ureña
's solo gesture on
May 21 at
Las Ventas
, within the next San Isidro Fair.
The
Antonio Bienvenida room
of the Monumental witnessed the act of presentation of the work.
A ceremony directed by
Sonia González,
sister-in-law of
Ureña
, for whom he had some affectionate and close words before giving him the floor.
The Murcian is the main protagonist of 21-M.
"I greatly appreciate all those who have supported me on this path and who have made it possible today to present an appointment like this," said the bullfighter, who did not want to forget either the important support that his wife has represented in his daily struggle, in a career with many obstacles [the presenter spoke of "gorings in arenas, in offices and hurtful and insensitive journalists"] and that now has its key appointment in San Isidro in this gesture.
"I hope to be able to bring out my best version," said
Ureña
, paraphrasing another musician,
Leiva
in this case, and assuring that he will do the paseo in Madrid "with all due respect to bullfighting, the bull and this
Las Ventas
plaza ".
The man from Murcia thanked
Andrés Calamaro
for his defense of bullfighting and his involvement in the design of the poster which, in collaboration with
Álvaro Fajardo
's studio , shows an original photographic composition of a portrait of the bullfighter putting on his bullfighter's cap from which a angry bull.
"Making a poster for the first arena in the world is a responsibility and an honor," said the Argentine musician, who stressed that "the real artist in this case is
Paco Ureña
," for whom he wished luck in his "historic deed."
Rafael Garrido, Simón Casas (Plaza 1), Paaco Ureña and Andrés Calamaro pose with the poster.
The most passionate intervention of the act came at the close of the event and was carried out by
Simón Casas
, who spoke on behalf of Plaza 1 and who recognized Ureña's gesture, whom he defined as a "silent poet".
"Toreros are heroes who don't need words to convey the fundamental values of life, artists who inspire other artists. And the union of an artist like Andrés and Paco is almost the perfect union," he said.
The appointment, within the San Isidro Fair, is announced on May 21.
In the poster,
Paco Ureña
as the only sword.
The bulls, from the ranches of
Puerto de San Lorenzo, Garcigrande, Adolfo Martín, Luis Algarra, José Vázquez and Juan Pedro Domecq
.
The die is cast.
