Health Food Safety withdraws batches of Kinder products from the Spanish market after cases of salmonella in Europe
The
European Center for Disease Prevention and Control
(ECDC) has reported that
Spain has detected the first case of salmonella, related to
Kinder
brand products
, manufactured in
Belgium
, where
several cases have already been detected
.
The Spanish health authorities
are investigating two other possible cases.
According to the latest ECDC bulletin,
85 infections have been confirmed in the member countries of the European Union
and 29 more are being studied.
In
Germany they have already detected 11 cases of salmonella
, in France there are 37 and in Ireland, 15. For its part,
the United Kingdom has identified 73 cases.
The European organization has indicated that there is
an "unusual number of hospitalized children"
due to this outbreak and highlights some serious symptoms, such as
"bloody diarrhea"
.
Two weeks ago, the
Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition
(Aesan) ordered the
withdrawal of some batches of products of this brand
after the European Commission Services
warned of an outbreak.
