Barbie as Queen Elizabeth on her platinum jubilee

Queen Elizabeth will be honored with a Barbie doll on the platinum jubilee of her accession to the throne, and the doll will be sold at Harrods, Selfridges and Hamleys in London ahead of the official platinum jubilee celebrations in early June.

Doll maker Mattel said Thursday it was commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne with a commemorative collection of Barbie doll.

The doll wears an ivory dress and blue scarf adorned with miniature models of decorations and ribbons.

The doll also wears a tiara similar to the one Elizabeth wore on her wedding day.

Today, Thursday, is the 96th birthday of the Queen, and she ascended the throne after the death of her father, Queen George VI, on February 6, 1952. She is the longest-serving ruler in British history.
