The Government wants to close this Tuesday the disastrous management that it has done for two years of the use of
masks
, by arbitrariness and decree, approving the non -
compulsory
nature of them
indoors
-except in care centers, socio-health and transport- and transferring this responsibility to the companies, so that they are the ones who decide whether or not to take them inside their buildings.
The Council of Ministers is going to give the green light to a royal decree that does not have the approval
obation of the
scientific community
-just two weeks ago the isolation of mildly infected or without symptoms was suspended and the effects of Easter are still unknown- and which has received harsh criticism from experts, who demand caution in the face of the evolution of the virus.
covid
.
In his triumphalist line,
Pedro Sanchez
, who chaired the meeting of the coronavirus monitoring committee on Monday, boasted of what he considers "extraordinary news".
And certainly the return to normality -without adjectives- it is.
A separate issue is that it should be the Prime Minister who boasts of a
vaccination process
Certainly exceptional whose merit must be shared by the autonomies who vaccinate and the Spaniards who attend.
Regarding the use of the mask from now on, Sánchez appealed to the helpful "common sense".
It is true that 92% of citizens have completed the vaccine schedule, and the cumulative incidence is around 400 points, a lower figure than in other countries.
Certainly nobody knows how the epidemiological situation will be in 15 days: the decision comes when 48,000 weekly infections are being registered in Spain and at a time when the Spanish are divided.
Just over half are in favor of its removal indoors, as this newspaper published in a Sigma Two survey.
Young people support removing them and older people are reluctant.
But Health cannot justify the imposition of the mask outdoors by a survey, as it did last time.
It is desirable that Spain follow the path of the rest of the European countries and lift the restrictions, as long as the incidence rates allow it and no new strain or similar threat is registered.
United Kingdom
The masks were withdrawn in January with 600,000 weekly infections and its trend is downward.
They followed
Denmark
,
Finland
Y
Sweden
in February, with many more cases than in Spain, and its trend falls.
France
He withdrew them in March and infections soared, but the Government maintained its decision.
Only
Austria
had to back down.
Three days ago he suppressed them again.
We must learn to live with the virus, but we must not forget that transmission persists.
Caution and rigor must prevail, and not resort to populist measures to hide erratic and sloppy management.
