No more 12 hours of flight breathing your breath.

American airlines have lifted the obligation to wear a mask during flights.

This is now optional since Monday.

The end of this restriction follows the decision of the magistrate Kathryn Kimball Mizelle to declare illegal this federal obligation in public transport in the United States.

She therefore considered that the American Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) had exceeded their prerogatives by imposing this obligation on planes, trains, subways and coaches.

Several American airlines announced in the process that the mask would no longer be mandatory, at least on their domestic flights.

“This means that our employees no longer have to wear a mask, nor impose it on passengers in most cases.

They can choose to wear one, especially since the CDC continues to strongly recommend it on public transport, ”detailed a spokesperson for United Airlines, which had been among the first to impose the anti-Covid vaccine on his employees.

American Airlines and Delta Air Lines made similar announcements.

Masks that "fit well protect the person wearing them, even if people around aren't wearing them," Delta said, however.

Alaska Airlines has indicated that they are now optional, except on flights to and from Canada.

Southwest Airlines recalled that the air is constantly renewed on board the planes, thanks to ventilation systems which filter “99.97% of the particles in the air”.
