China News Service, April 18. According to the official website of the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Zhaoshi, director of the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, published a blog on the 18th, saying that in order to reverse the current medical system and atmosphere of "emphasizing treatment and neglecting prevention", The establishment of district health centres is an important first step in transforming Hong Kong's healthcare system.

The SAR Government is working hard to set up health centers in all 18 districts of Hong Kong at full speed to provide primary medical services to the public.

Chen Zhaoshi said that the district health center is an important part of the government's primary medical system. It operates in a new model, funded by the government and operated by non-governmental organizations. Citizens' awareness of disease prevention and their ability to manage their personal health allow citizens to receive the care they need in the community and reduce the pressure on the public healthcare system.

Chen Zhaoshi pointed out that following the district health centres in Kwai Tsing and Sham Shui Po, which started service in September 2019 and June 2021, they are actively planning to set up health centres in another five districts, which are expected to be located in Wong Tai Sin, Tuen Mun and Southern District. , Yuen Long and Tsuen Wan health centres will be put into service this year.

At the same time, the SAR government allocated about HK$600 million in the previous year to subsidize NGOs in the remaining 11 districts to set up small-scale, transitional "district health stations" to speed up the provision of primary medical and health services in Hong Kong.

The services of 11 "District Health Stations" have also been launched successively last year to provide services to the public.

Chen Zhaoshi emphasized that in the face of the pressure of the aging population and the popularization of chronic diseases, a comprehensive review of the planning of primary healthcare services and governance structures has been initiated, and a blueprint for the sustainable development of primary healthcare services in Hong Kong will be published in the current government.
