On March 25, 2022, the third central ecological and environmental protection inspection team entered the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to carry out inspection work. Tumet Zuoqi responded to the findings of the central environmental protection inspection team due to illegal mining of sand and gravel in its territory to form sand pits and damage the ecological environment. Insufficient rectification of the problem has resulted in the problem not being effectively managed.
Official sources indicate that the Tumert Left Banner Committee and the Tumert Left Banner Government, as the main unit responsible for the implementation of ecological and environmental protection, bear the main responsibility.
In response to the above problems, the Hohhot Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision gave the Tumut Zuoqi government the then Deputy Banner Chief Batu (currently Deputy Director of the Hohhot Urban Management Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau) and Deputy Banner Chief Zhang Guangzhi who were in charge of ecological and environmental protection.
