Moyu County is located in the northwest of the Hotan region of Xinjiang, on the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert.

Twenty-eight Panshui Mill is located on the canal on the south side of the lower reaches of the gate of Balamusui Canal in Moyu County. It was the place where local people used to use water power to grind grain. Now the original site has been developed into a scenic spot, becoming a historical witness. The stone water mill has a history of one hundred years.

Recently, the reporter saw in the scenic spot that the mills are distributed along both sides of the canal.

According to the person in charge of the scenic spot, this type of water mill is a horizontal water mill, which can run continuously around the clock by relying on water energy. When the water volume is large, it can produce more than 200 kilograms of rice and noodles a day.

In addition to the twenty-eight pan water mills in Moyu County, there are also various water mills of different sizes in other areas in Hotan area where water channels flow through.

These water mills are not only the testimony of human beings making full use of natural power to improve production efficiency, but also the crystallization of the wisdom of laborers in Hotan, which greatly promotes the development of masonry, woodworking and blacksmithing.
