[Concurrent] Yao Tong, student of Hong Kong Baptist University

My name is Yao Tong. I am from Dongguan, Guangdong. I came to Hong Kong with my parents in 2019 to live here. After working for two years, I am now a graduate student in Information Technology Management at Hong Kong Baptist University.

[Explanation] The guy in the picture is a graduate student at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Affected by the fifth wave of the epidemic, major universities in Hong Kong have suspended face-to-face courses, and many mainland students have to take online courses at home.

However, affected by the isolation policy of the two places, and the lack of epidemic prevention materials and related information, these mainland students who are stranded in Hong Kong face the risk of contracting the epidemic at any time.

In order to solve the daily needs of the students and help them return to the mainland smoothly.

This "post-95" guy stepped forward and established an online "departure mutual aid group" to update relevant information and help students solve their difficulties.

At that time, due to the severe epidemic situation in Hong Kong and the fact that these classes and exams were conducted online, many students decided to return to the mainland, because I was a member of the Hong Kong Baptist University Mainland Association, and because I always had an identity, I felt (As) a new immigrant, I wanted to bring some of my poor information to my classmates, so I felt that I wanted to help my classmates even more, so I set up a mutual aid group for departure from Hong Kong with my classmates at that time, such as nucleic acid. Collection policies, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Chengdu, some isolation policies, and some landing policies to help those students go back.

[Commentary] In addition to updating the epidemic prevention information in a timely manner, Yao Tong also records the daily needs of the students at all times.

As the mainland's aid to Hong Kong continues to be distributed to the public, he also actively helps students apply for epidemic prevention materials and distributes them to those in need in a timely manner.

We also received some 300 anti-epidemic test kits donated by the state before, which can basically be given to more than half of the students.

So I can really feel that the country is helping Hong Kong, as well as our mainland students.

[Commentary] Recalling his most difficult period, Yao Tong admitted that he was unfortunately infected with the virus during his daily commute, but even so, he still had to keep working and provide online help to his classmates.

During this process, I was actually diagnosed myself. I had a fever of 38.8°C for two days, and then I kept having a fever again and again. I was self-isolating and taking medicine.

But I was also working normally. At that time, many students needed some anti-epidemic materials. Then I helped to register online. What each student needed should be registered for them, and distributed to some offline later. If I can't go, there are many students in my association who are willing to help me, and they are also some volunteers who are willing to give, and then they help me to distribute offline.

[Explanation] The epidemic continued to rise and fall, but it still did not dampen Yao Tong's confidence in fighting the epidemic.

He said frankly that all his efforts were to restore the two places as soon as possible.

I actually really hope to clear customs, because if customs clearance, it can be extended to many levels, first of all, the epidemic situation, that is to say, the epidemic situation in Hong Kong and the mainland has been cured, and the epidemic situation on both sides has been cured, and there will be one that is to say The possibility of customs clearance, coupled with the fact that the epidemic is over, reflects that our lives will return to the right track.

Maybe life is back on track, and it reflects that the business of our companies will improve, and if the business improves, the unemployment rate may drop.
