The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 37,568 new corona infections within 24 hours.

That's 113,107 fewer cases than on Saturday a week ago, when 150,675 positive tests were reported.

The nationwide seven-day incidence continues to fall to 876.5 from 1001.5 the previous day.

29 other people died in connection with the virus.

This increases the number of reported deaths to 132,929.

Overall, the number of confirmed infections in Germany is now more than 23.37 million.

The RKI points out that the numbers fluctuate over the holidays due to a lower number of tests and fewer reports and that there may be under-recordings.

Return of the Easter Fires

After being out of action in many places for two years due to the pandemic, Easter bonfires can be lit again these days.

However, the regulations of the municipalities and the hygiene regulations must be observed, explained the State Environment Agency in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Animal and environmental protection should also be taken into account.

Done badly, the old custom can do a lot of damage.

The heaps of brushwood used for the fire should be controlled because of possible nesting bird species.

The wood should also be as dry as possible in order to keep the development of smoke and the resulting pollutants as low as possible.
