With the relaxation of border measures for the new coronavirus, the number of foreigners who newly entered Japan last month was about 48,000, which is more than nine times the number of the previous month.

As a measure against Omicron stocks, the government eased the border measures that had been strengthened since November last year from the 1st of last month, and new entry of foreigners excluding tourism has resumed for the first time in about three months.



Along with this, according to the preliminary figures released by the Immigration Bureau of Japan, the number of foreigners who newly entered Japan last month was 48,418, which is more than nine times the number of the previous month.



By status of residence,


▽ study abroad was the largest with 14,810 people,


followed by


▽ technical intern training with 10,163 people


▽ short-term stay with 6,522 people.



On the other hand,


▽ the number of foreigners who re-entered Japan was 34,037, and


▽ the number of Japanese returnees was 90,389.
