The Sharjah Book Authority announced the organization of the second edition of the “Emirati Book Fair”, which will be held in cooperation with the Emirates Writers Union, over five days, from 20 to 24 April, at the authority’s building in Al Zahia area, with the participation of 10 Publishing houses offer thousands of publications by Emirati writers and writers.

The exhibition opens its doors to visitors and readers from April 21 from nine in the evening until one in the middle of the night, in a Ramadan atmosphere that witnesses the organization of a cultural program full of dialogue and discussion sessions, poetry and literary evenings.

The exhibition, through the participating publishing houses and the program of events, opens windows for communication and dialogue between Emirati writers and publishers, and provides the readership with the opportunity to learn about the new local cultural scene and its publications.

The exhibition includes publications of Emirati publishing houses in various fields of knowledge and literature. Publishers specializing in novels and publishers of academic books will participate in special pavilions.

The head of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, said:

“The exhibition embodies the growth achieved in the publishing sector within the country, and is an opportunity for those interested in monitoring the features of the Emirati cultural and creative scene through the new local publishing movement. That is why we are working in the authority to make the exhibition a well-established and distinguished annual tradition, enhancing Sharjah’s position on the map of book-making cities and interest in knowledge In the world".

The head of the Emirates Writers Union, poet and researcher Sultan Al-Amimi, said: “The UAE Book Fair embodies the state’s vision towards appreciating its symbols of writers, writers and thinkers, investing in the knowledge society, and advancing the reality of the book industry. Experiences of creative and young writers, and an opportunity to discuss the most prominent issues of the local cultural movement.”
