Chief of Staff, Shunji Izutsu, the head of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, has been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus in the United States he visited.


He was scheduled to return home on the 15th, but is expected to be delayed for at least a week.

The Japan Air Self-Defense Force states that "the mission will not be affected."

Chief of Staff, Air Force Izutsu has been visiting various parts of the United States since the 4th of this month to meet with U.S. Air Force executives and participate in symposiums. Infection with the new coronavirus has been confirmed.



He had a low-grade fever before the test and was complaining of sore throat.



I was planning to return to Japan on the 15th, but I have to stay in the United States for isolation and so on, so I can leave the country at the earliest on the 23rd of this month, local time.



The Air Self-Defense Force has stated that "the mission will not be affected" because Chief of Staff, Air Force Izutsu will work at the hotel where he is receiving medical treatment, and his assistant Chief of Staff, Air Staff, will be in Japan.
