In November 2021, the artistic director of the Moscow Art Academic Theater named after M. Gorky, Eduard Boyakov, announced his dismissal from the theater.

He added that he was leaving the theater despite the signed five-year contract.

Boyakov added that it was not in his rules to “arrange an opposition or a opposition” in a situation where the leadership does not want to work with him.
