A researcher was killed in a horrific way... an elephant chased him and ran him to death

A Colombian researcher working for an American university was killed after being run over by an elephant in the Kibale National Park in western Uganda, the national parks authority announced.

Sebastian Ramirez Amaya, a researcher at Arizona State University, was with another researcher and a guide at this park known for its diversity of wildlife and its research center.

The Ugandan National Park Authority said in a statement that the group members "ran across an elephant that was alone and then attacked them, causing them to run in different directions. The elephant chased Sebastian and trampled on him, leading to his death."

"We have not seen such incidents in the last 50 years of forest research conducted in Kibale National Park," she added.
