A sale of 404 objects belonging to military collections was organized in Reims (Marne) on Saturday.

This first sale of the year 2022, however, created controversy, due to the presence of articles from the German army dating from the Second World War, says

L'Union

.

This auction was however authorized by law.

Mandatory supervision

Only the sale of objects or uniforms of members of the SS, Waffen-SS, NSDAP, Gestapo and SD are indeed prohibited by article R 645-1 of the Penal Code.

As for the objects belonging to other German military organizations of the time, their sale is framed.

For example, it is mandatory to hide their insignia and emblems, which the auctioneer did.

Nevertheless, like others, he was attacked for having organized auctions on these objects.

He had also been heard in the fall of 2021 at the Reims police station after a complaint finally dismissed.

The sales manager, for his part, felt that he was working from memory.
