One week ago, the decision was made.

All forms of snacks and drinks must be purchased directly by the staff at the cinema and brought snacks are prohibited.

Now, however, the question has been raised from the public about how that ban should work in practice.

"We who want an alternative to sweets, chips and popcorn, should we be examined?", Writes a Facebook user.

According to Helena Eklund, marketing director at Filmstaden, you will not go as far as physical dredging.

- We will not visit people, she says to Kulturnyheterna.

Eklund believes that it will mostly be about informing and encouraging visitors not to bring their own sweets, even if you as a visitor would do it repeatedly.

And that one will not devote oneself to reinforcing it by confiscating the snack or rejecting visitors.

- It should still be a nice cinema visit, so it is not the intention that it should be such a treatment, she says.

Aroused extensive criticism

The film city's impact on pralines has been criticized on social media shortly after the announcement.

It is largely about the chain's pricing and that the tickets are already "up the walls expensive", and many wonder how it will affect families who are in a bad financial situation.

A user on facebook writes that:

“This hurts the families with children who already at present have difficulty in affording to go to the cinema.

Paying for expensive snacks at the already relatively expensive ticket price does not feel like a good idea. ”

How do you view this comment?

- We try to ensure that there is a good breadth of the range we have, also in terms of price.

So if you take families with children, for example, there is a special menu that is developed for the children.

Then you get a discount when buying several menus, says Helena Eklund.

No worries among employees

Despite the criticism, the employees at Filmstaden feel no concern for angry customers and according to Mika Romanus, union director at the union Scen och film, the decision is well thought out.

- Our members have been involved and collaborated with the employer and a risk analysis has been produced for what this may mean, she says.

Exceptions for allergy sufferers

Helena Eklund says that exceptions to the candy ban can be made.

If, for example, you are allergic or for other reasons cannot eat what is on offer, you can bring your own snack.

- We really make an effort to be able to meet all needs.

But of course you can talk to the cinema staff and then it is of course okay to bring your own.
