This season's shipments have begun in Kanazawa, the largest producer of bamboo shoots in Ishikawa Prefecture.

"Bamboo shoots" in Kanazawa, which is one of the Kaga vegetables, are cultivated in watery soil where it snows, and are characterized by their freshness and low harshness, accounting for 90% of the bamboo shoots produced in the prefecture.

Currently, about 160 farmers are cultivating and shipping this season started on the 10th.

In the morning, harvested and boxed bamboo shoots were brought in one after another to the JA collection and shipping area in Nodamachi, Kanazawa.

And the staff checked the size and color.

According to JA Kanazawa City, this is the year of a good harvest called the "table year", and the shipment volume is expected to be 450 tons, which is 2.7 times that of last year.

Takayuki Matsuyama of JA Kanazawa said, "I am relieved that the first shipment was safely received as usual. I want you to enjoy the taste of spring with various ways of eating such as simmered dishes and bamboo shoot rice."

Bamboo shoots shipped on the 10th will be lined up at supermarkets in Ishikawa prefecture in the morning of the 11th.
