Tohoku Electric Power Network announced on the 10th that it will implement "output control" to temporarily stop power generation to power generation companies in order to prevent a large-scale power outage due to an excessive increase in the supply of solar power generation.

This is the first time that output control has been performed within the Tohoku Electric Power jurisdiction.

The amount of renewable energy introduced within the jurisdiction of Tohoku Electric Power is increasing, and as of the end of December last year, solar power increased 19 times from the end of 2012 to 7.25 million kW, which is equivalent to seven nuclear power plants in Tohoku. It's up.

On the other hand, electricity is maintained so that the amount of power generated and consumed is always the same, so if the amount of power generated by solar and wind power increases too much and the balance with demand is lost, the power plant will automatically shut down and the scale will be large. There is a risk of power failure.

According to the Tohoku Electric Power Network, on the 10th and Sunday, the demand for electricity by companies will decrease, while the amount of solar power generation is expected to increase significantly on a sunny day.

For this reason, the Tohoku Electric Power Network announced on the 10th that it will carry out "output control" to temporarily stop power generation to power generation companies in order to prevent large-scale power outages.

Output control has often been performed in Kyushu, where solar power generation is popular, but this is the first time that it has been performed within the Tohoku Electric Power jurisdiction.

The time zone is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on the 10th, which means that 101 solar and wind power plants in the jurisdiction as of the 9th will be covered.

According to the Tohoku Electric Power Network, "There is a possibility that output control will continue mainly during the Golden Week holidays, when electricity demand is the lowest in a year."
